NMRP is moving into new terrain following our successful 2nd incarnation of the project in 2022. We started in 2018 as a project of Sustainable Little Tokyo.<\/a><\/p>\n

That year, we held gatherings as part of a pop-up series of events called ART4FSN<\/a> in a storefront space located at 341 East 1st Street in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

From 2019-2022 we navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and rise of anti-Asian violence sweeping the U.S. and the world.\u00a0 We utilized on-line video conferencing to move things along, ending in a successful concert on June 26 presenting beautiful and powerful original music from the mentees, Niall Taro Ferguson, cellist, <\/em>Sara Sithi-Amnuai, multi-instrumentalist and<\/em><\/a>
shinkawasaki, guitarist.\u00a0 <\/em>The mentees enjoyed guidance from prominent Nikkei Music artists, Nobuko Miyamoto, Mark Izu and Derek Nakamoto.<\/p>\n\n\n

The project now faces new challenges, but we are mulling over some exciting ideas (including further development of this website) and having discussions with many friends who are interested in seeing this important work continue. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
